Hidden in the Colorado Mountains

The smell of dried leaves from a bicycle seat

I don’t know what these Donovans have to say
but by God
they’ll say it
with or without us
and be sure to light those beautiful tight pants
with spotlights and nomenclature
before exiting what can only be called
the personification
of everything I never knew.

Can we just hold hands
and take in a show
without being the show?
Or is that a show I wouldn’t watch?
