Hey everyone, I’m super excited to announce that I was approved for a profile in the Poets & Writers Directory! In a world of increasing noise, anything that helps establish me as legitimate as potentially useful. (As we are repeatedly told, “Writers must have an online presence…”)
For those unfamiliar, Poets & Writers is one of the largest nonprofit literary organizations in the United States and has been around since the 1970s.

I don’t want to overstate my importance here – it’s not super hard to get into as long as you have enough legitimate writing credits. For me the process was as follows: submit my basic information with links to five of my publications in recognized literary journals, and then wait for approval. After about two and half weeks I got an email stating that my profile was approved for inclusion, allowing me to then flesh out my profile with a bio, the rest of my writing credits in journals, and other information.
As I stated in a previous post, this year for me is all about resetting my dedication to writing fiction. Right now most of this does not entail actual writing, but rather planting all of the seeds of writing, such as this public profile on a prominent writing website. Such seeds are the things that keep me on track, rather than what I’ve done for so many year – waiting for inspiration to strike, furiously writing, and then desperately trying to get it published. That has seen some success, but I believe I’m capable of so much more, if only I can have the sustained focus that I have lacked.
How’s everyone else’s writing journey going in 2025?
