Music and fiction writing have always been intertwined for me. This post is part of a series highlighting bands that I’ve found inspiring to listen to while writing.

Well, my goodness, it’s been over eight years since I’ve done one of these posts. Music has always been an integral part of my writing process, which is why I started highlighting bands that I have specifically listened to while writing. I recently came across a post rock band that was new to me called April Rain, and listened to them while doing a second draft of a short story I’m currently working on, finding their music a great soundtrack for stimulating that part of my brain.

According to their Facebook page, they’re simply from “Earth,” but they began as a one-man project in Krasnodon, Ukraine. Adding members, they moved to Russia, and their Bandcamp page lists them as being from Saint Petersburg. What I do know for sure is that they create some great driving, atmospheric post-rock and since discovering them I’ve been working my way through their back catalog, all of which has been great.

Watched this video of them in the studio for Audiotree Worldwide – I’d love to see them some day if they ever make it to the US.

What’s everyone else been listening to for inspiration? Do you find certain types of music are particularly useful for inspiring your creative ends?
